About this policy

This policy explains how Makthaba Athariyya (Android package com.athariyyah.myapp) and its reader website at https://www.athariyya.online handle information. The service is operated by Maktaba Athariyyah. For privacy questions, contact athariyya@gmail.com.

Reading without an account

You do not need a reader account to browse, download, read, or listen to books. The mobile app does not ask for your name, email address, contacts, precise location, camera, or microphone. The current reader app does not include advertising or an analytics SDK.

Information stored on your device

The mobile app saves bookmarks, recent books, reading pages, audio chapter and playback position, theme preferences, a cached catalogue, and downloaded PDFs and audio in local device storage. These support reading, resuming playback, and offline access. The app does not upload these saved reading preferences to a reader account. The website uses browser storage for bookmarks, recent books, and the selected theme.

Your device's backup and restore settings may affect whether local app information is backed up by your operating system provider.

Online requests and hosting providers

When you load the catalogue, covers, PDFs, or audio, your device connects to the servers providing that content. Requests expose technical information such as your IP address and requested resource; infrastructure providers may also process request times, response status, and browser or client information. Requested resources may identify a book you access.

The service uses Vercel for website and API hosting and Cloudflare R2 for media storage and delivery. These providers process network requests to deliver content and operate and protect their services. Processing may occur outside your country. Offline reading of downloaded files does not require a new request for those files.

Contacting us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever information you include. We use that information to respond to your request. Please do not include sensitive information that is unnecessary for your inquiry.

Retention and deletion

Local reading information remains until it is removed or the app's storage is cleared. You can remove downloads in the app and clear local app data through Android settings. You can remove the website's locally saved information by clearing its site data in your browser. Device backups are managed separately through your device or backup provider.

We have not configured a custom retention period for infrastructure logs. Retention depends on the hosting providers’ applicable default settings and policies; we do not promise a fixed deletion date for those logs. We also have not configured automatic deletion of support emails, so correspondence may remain in our mailbox until manually deleted. To request deletion of correspondence or ask about technical records, email athariyya@gmail.com. We will review the request and remove information within our control where possible, subject to necessary security or legal retention. We cannot erase local device storage or operating-system backups remotely.

Security

The catalogue API uses HTTPS. Local app data is stored using the device's app storage facilities. No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
